    Pertaining to the Waldenses. Small Christian group: the members of a small Christian denomination, originating in southern France, that broke with the Roman Catholic Church in the 12th century and experienced much persecution. In the 16th century the Waldenses joined the Reformation and adopted Calvinist doctrines.
